Chicago, October 17th, 1995:  Paprikàsh Restaurant opened its doors to the dreams of two men with one vision.  The vision was to see their families’ soul-warming traditional recipes, passed down through generations of Hungarians, shared with the world… or at least with the citizens of Chicagoland.   Twelve years later, in Arlington Heights (close to the Arlington Park Racetrack and the Metra Station, at 602 W Northwest Highway) that vision is still alive, and as strong as the garlic in the langòs and the thickness of the Beef Goulash.  Though we may have changed locations, we offer the same wide variety of tasty Hungarian dishes as always, and the elegantly simple and friendly environment that faithful guests know and love.

It’s been said that our reputation comes from our consistently authentic, affordable food that will leave you wanting more!  There are still two guys and a dream, but now the guys run a full staff of friendly, expert wait staff, realizing their vision by making sure everyone is satisfied and full, and always welcoming you to relax and stay longer.

Ask anyone who’s been here.  While we have indeed added some new fare to our established lineup, including a truly outstanding Chilean Sea Bass recipe among prime steaks and chops, original Paprikàsh foundations persevere.  Our own Chef Béla Olah is present each and every day to peek into the dining room and ensure that guests still enjoy every last bite of his renowned Beef Wellington (check out our reviews featuring Steve Dolinsky and “Check, Please!”) or beloved Chicken Paprikàsh.New dishes and old standbys alike, this is a place where people tend to eat like their grandmothers forced them to.  Translation: no leftovers, and dessert -- of course!

Even if you do manage to clean your plate, you would be well-advised to be ready for an after dinner cocktail… or two, or three!  Our outgoing and hospitable bartenders will likely catch your eye on your way out, and implore you to sit down in Mike’s Lounge for a martini or coffee treat.  The Lounge features a full bar: top shelf liquor, plenty of beer choices, creative as well as traditional drink selections, and four giant plasma TVs flashing every sports channel imaginable.  If not, you might stop by the Lounge on Fridays, and dance to our DJ or sing Karaoke.

We also have live music every Saturday and Sunday beginning at 7 p.m., a banquet room available for private reservations, family-style dining upon request, a lunch buffet Tuesday through Friday, and the entire restaurant is available for event rentals on Mondays.

Come see us at Paprikàsh!  We are a group of family and friends who welcome you to enjoy high-end service and gourmet cooking, but in a warm and affordable environment.   Also, check out our website for updates on upcoming special events!  We recently had a blast at our first ever Oktoberfest, and look forward to a romantic and special Valentine's Day (February 14th).  Stop by and have a taste of our tradition!
